Description
This waterfall (and many others) can be easily seen at the roadside of Peekamoose Road in Catskill State Park in New York...It is a forty foot waterfall formed on a small stream that rises south of Rocky Mountain.
I believe that there are sixteen waterfalls named 'Buttermilk" in New York alone!
Falls are named "buttermilk' due to the frothy pool that lies at the bottom of the cascade.
Peekamoose Road, connecting West Shokan ( a tiny hamlet near the Ashokan Reservoir) with Sundown (an even tinier hamlet formed at the confluence of Sundown Creek and Roundout Creek), could be justifiably called "The Waterfall Road", for it takes you past more than half a dozen roadside waterfalls within a span of two miles.
