Description
Nevele Falls is formed on a small stream rising east of Cragsmoor that flows into the Delaware & Hudson Canal at Ellenville.
According to historical accounts, the waterfall was named by a group of teachers who used to meet at the fall for weekend picnics.
Since there were eleven teachers in the group, they decided to name the falls Nevele, which is eleven spelled backwards.
