Description
Due to all the leaves being long gone, there hasn't been much of anything to catch my attention to photograph (landscape related), therefore I haven't been out shooting in little over a month, but there is snow in the forecast this week and that in turn gets my creative juices flowing!
So, in the meantime, I still have plenty of new stuFF to share from the autumn months, and even more photos from my summer excursions!!!
Original Background Notes:
The view from the summit of Bear Mountain is one of the most breathtaking vistas in the Hudson Valley, NY.
You can drive to it via Perkins Memorial Drive which is located in Bear Mountain State Park.
Usually the gates do not open until 8 or 9am, but I put in a call to the park's superintendent to see if there was any chance of having them open before that time. I was told that probably won't be the case, but if I arrive before that time frame, you'll never know what could happen.
That being all I needed to hear, I ventured out from my home so that I would arrive slightly after sunrise (7:22am). When I arrived, there was no one present, so I drove around the park to see if I came across something else to shoot while the time passed by.
Coming across nothing of interest, I went back to hang out at the closed gate, hoping that I would get lucky. After about 17 minutes, another car pulled up and idle in front of me. About 12 minutes later, another car pulled up, and began talking with the other driver for a few minutes, then driver #1 opened the gate for driver #2, then quickly closed it again!
Astonished and inquisitive, I asked why that person was allowed in and I was not; he informed me that he was a park employee and that he was beginning his shift. I totally understood, told him (he was a park employee as well), that I had spoke to the superintendent and was told that if I asked nicely, that the opportunity could possibly present itself. He asked me what I wanted to do up there so early in the morning, and I reply that I wanted to photograph the landscape right after the sun rose. The kind man, nodded his head in the affirmative, and let me drove through.
So, it was just the park employee, me and the beautiful Hudson Highlands to enjoy in blissful solitude.
This capture was made shortly after the fog had lifted, allowing the distant skyline of Manhattan to be clearly visible, as well as the lush autumn foliage to sparkle in all its October glory!
I am honored to be able to offer my photography of the beautiful Hudson Valley in New York and beyond for all of your purchasing considerations.
