Description
The cosmic trifecta of a supermoon, a blue moon, and a total lunar eclipse hasn’t been seen anywhere on Earth since December 1982, and the first time it’s been seen in the Americas in 150 years.
I waited in 8 degree temps this morning for the Moon to fall into the Earth's shadow, known as the Penumbra, then Umbra beginning at 6:48AM.
Unfortunately, this did not allow much time to photograph this rare phenomenon before it slipped below the horizon and the rise of the Sun...
As it slowly dropped towards the horizon, the Earth's atmosphere began to refract the light of the Moon, causing it to slightly distort, but I was still able to document the partial eclipse, and the reddish coloration caused by the Umbra..
