Description
Schwabacher Landing is probably the #1 go- to place to photograph in the Tetons!
This was the first capture I made there, and even though it does not look like it, this image was shot when it was still relatively dark out.
By using a long exposure shutter speed with great equipment, the Alpenglow was all I needed to produce this beautiful photograph!
That said, it is next to impossible to come away with a capture that hasn't been photographed a thousand times before, but what the hell, Cowboys aren't the only ones that like to play in tune, so I went for it just the same!
On our last day (9/14)of camping in GTNP before heading up to Yellowstone, my friend and I arrived about 47 minutes before sunrise to claim our "spot" before the hoards of photographers arrived.
Wearing a headlamp, we ventured off into the dark and settled in on an area along side a waterway, but something did not feel right with my decision...
As I was trying to get myself centered, my friend went off on a scouting expedition further down the trail, and returned a few minutes later proclaiming; "Come with me, you'll be thankful that you did!!!"
He was right!
We came to a clearing that was slightly south of the ultra-classic location of Schwabacher Landing, and we had the area all to ourselves for a spell.
With this slightly different locale, I do believe that I possibly came away with a different perspective of this iconic location.
This capture was what we so patiently waited on, and we were not disappointed!!!
The waters were perfectly still (once we chased off the local water fowl), and this in turn produced perfect reflections of the Tetons as they basked in the first rays of the rising sun...
As mentioned earlier, we settled on this spot so that more layers (water, ghost trees, healthy conifers and mountains)were incorporated into the overall composition.
