Every change of season in New York, I compile a list of locations that I plan on photographing.
For the Autumn, 2021 season, one of my destinations were Covered Bridges that are located in the Hudson Valley.
After some research, I came across the Ashokan Center, which is located in Olivebridge, NY near the Ashokan Reservoir. This covered bridge is known as the Ashokan-Turnwood Covered Bridge.
History
The Ashokan-Turnwood Bridge was also known as the New Paltz Campus Bridge, being on a satellite campus affiliated with New Paltz – the grounds of the Ashokan Field Campus. It was originally constructed by Nelson Tompkins in 1885 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as of July 20, 2000. It is located in the Town of Olivebridge, south of Beaverkill Road approximately one-half mile, or so. It crosses over the Esopus Creek, and it is a single span of 62 feet that displays a Town Truss.
