It was a classic mid-October morning with a gorgeous sky, soft filtered light, foliage near peak, hardly a breeze and very few people in the park. Needless to say, it was a Photographer's Nirvana.


My last stop was slightly below the parking area where I was parked. This landscape caught my eye as the juxtaposition of the illuminated foliage against the darkening sky above and the looming Catskill Mountains in the distance were too much to pass up.

About the title:

Tessitura, is Italian for “texture”. In music, the general range of pitches found in a melody or vocal part. It differs from the compass of a piece to the extent that it does not take into account the extremes of the piece's range but is concerned with the way in which the vocal line is arranged or situated.
I applied that musical terminology to this capture as I felt that all of the compositional elements in this photo lied comfortably and harmoniously in balance with one another.
