Description
Part of the agreement to gain access to the balloon launch field, was that I could not intrude on the balloon crews launching process.
Being mindful of that (I did not want to get the hook for violating the agreement), I, on occasion switched to my long lens (70-200mm) which allowed me to get in tight as if I was standing right in the middle of the action without actually doing that!
Since I honored my part of the agreement, I now have lifelong permission to shoot at these festivals that are held in Warren County, NJ.
Sharing some of my captures with the organizers without them asking, put me in a positive light in their eyes as well.
About the title: Block Chords are a style of piano playing, developed by Milt Buckner and George Shearing, with both hands 'locked' together, playing chords in parallel with the melody, usually in fairly close position. It is a technical procedure requiring much practice, and can sound dated if the harmonies are not advanced enough. Also called locked hands.
How it relates to this photograph is simple; The geometric patterns of the two balloon skins complimented one another as if they were "locked" in.
I am honored to be able to offer my photography of the beautiful Hudson Valley in New York and beyond for all of your purchasing considerations.
All of my photographs are available as prints, wall art, home decor, apparel, weekend bags, etc and are NOW offered with a canvas border, title, electronic signature and the year it was taken in 'The Signature Series Gallery'. You may continue to buy my photographs as they have always been available prior in all of my other galleries as well.
