Description
The image viewed here was the last one that I captured while photographing with a fellow photog/friend at the West New York, NJ Waterfront.
Usually, but not always I tend to shy away from offering/sharing images that are void of some sort of cloud formation. However, I deliberately chose to get in tight to minimize the clear sky and to highlight the "jig-saw" nature of the various buildings of the Hudson Yards. Speaking of jig-saw, this photograph would lend itself quite nicely to a puzzle item. ;)
That said, between the aforementioned buildings, the wonderful light of the soon to be rising sun, the pilings and the smoothness of the Hudson River (long exposure), I was quite confident that this capture would be well received! To amp up the visual excitement, I went with a "High contrast Blue Filter" in the black and white conversion process, to give the original capture an almost "otherworldly" vibe!
About the title: A Standing Wave is an acoustical term that is a sound wave continuously reinforced by its own reflections, influencing the character of all sound within a room. Since the standing waves are a direct result of the size and geometry of the space itself, each room has a unique set of standing waves. The presence of these waves can easily be determined by a combination of mathematical calculation and audio analysis.
IMO, the black and white conversion was perfectly matched with this term especially when applied to the different geometric shapes and sizes of the Hudson Yards Skyscrapers.
I am honored to be able to offer my photography of the beautiful Hudson Valley in New York and beyond for all of your purchasing considerations.
All of my photographs are available as prints, wall art, home decor, apparel, weekend bags, etc and are NOW offered with a canvas border, title, electronic signature and the year it was taken in 'The Signature Series Gallery'. You may continue to buy my photographs as they have always been available prior in all of my other galleries as well.
