Description
"Watkins Glen State Park".....
At this point in time, the weather had become problematic, so much so that the town was completely blacked out due to a power failure.
Needless to say, this affected my drinking time at a local "Brew Pub" ;-)
I visited the Gorge twice, once for scouting out shooting locations, and the second to actually shoot. The 1st hike covered all 800 + steps to the top of the Gorge, only to find out the shuttle bus was not running to bring me back down. The Gorge was drenched, water was all about, making it challenging to navigate the rock staircase, which was very slippery between the moisture and the fallen leaves. I was blown away by the beautiful sights that awaited every other step...
So, the next morning, at the crack of a grey dawn, off I went to shoot (my hotel was only three blocks away from the main entrance)! There was nobody else in the Gorge which made the journey all the more magical (and intimidating ). It wasn't until about an hour in that I began seeing other human life forms ( including other fotographers). Also, there was a gent who runs the entire 800+ steps each day!!!! (I asked him if he did) :-) Since I was pressed for time, I only took one shot per "visual" so that I could get as many of the 19 waterfalls, and rock formations as possible, all the while trying to find a dry spot to shoot from, a challenge to say the least, but I came away with a few good captures!
Oh yea, did I mention the boulder slide that had to be dealt with?
